Do you want to find out what business directory listings you have? Maybe you’re changing your business address and want to make sure your listings are consistent on all platforms? Here’s a few of our favourite methods to find out where you’re listed.
Visit https://business.yell.com/connect/ and fill in your address and basic details. Hit scan and around 20-30 listings will appear with a note on whether you have a listing on that website. This is a good starting point and helps as a reminder to change the more popular areas first such as Facebook, Yell and Google Local Business Listings.
Note – With this method, you do need to be aware that Yell may contact you offering their services and the paid version of their business directory listing scan… Boring!
Google can be utilised in less mainstream ways to find the results you want. For example, if you type in your search query with quote marks around it, Google will see that as an exact match search which means the results will show websites which match exactly to how you have written your query. This narrows down the number of results which will be more likely to be what you’re looking for.
You query will look something like this.

A few searches to try include:
“[business name]” + [road/building name]
Directory + “[business name]”
“[business phone number]”
3 – Utilise your SEO Software to monitor backlinks
We are a big fan of Ahrefs here at WATB (other SEO software available). It allows us to do many things, one of which is to quickly find out what websites are linking to our target website. Using this method, we can download a spreadsheet of all websites linking to our target domain and assess which ones are business listings to update.
NOTE: This method only shows up the websites which have links to your own website. So, it leaves out the directories which do not link to your website.
Having directory listings offers a few benefits, such as:
Finding and updating business listings is definitely a lengthy and arduous task, but it’s worth doing, especially if any of your major details change.
Final Tip – Keep a list of what sites you are on, especially if you take the time to go through this process. It will make everything much quicker the second time around.
